Kalu Kuma
Nepal is rich in various Culture and Tradition. There are
33 million god and goddess in Nepal. All these God and Goddess have it's one
symbol and sculpture. One of the Nepal's most interesting sculptures of oku bahal
is Kalu Kuma. He is only one who make Krodh Murti ie. Angry God. Although his
father, a farmer, did not foster his son's artistic vocation, Kalu kuma had
started sculpting clay figure from his childhood. Once upon a time about 1955,
he suffered from fever which kept him housebound for six month, at that time he
kill his boredom by playing or kind of say modeling character with clay. he make animals of clay too. By
doing this he develop his skill enough at that time.
Kalu Kuma one of the most interesting Newar artist of the
20th century. He was also requested by Tibetan monks to restore metal Images
brought from Tibet. He restore that without any single difference. He is still
making such kind of Krodh murti. Kalu kuma have made hundreds of suchkind of
idol for various countries. He is specialist in Krodh Murti. There are a various
process for making statue or idol of god or goddess. Idols can be made of iron,
Copper, clay etc. Kalu Kuma make idol of copper only.
